Goodbye Arcade

Arcade Brewing announced earlier this month that they were shutting down production. Their beers were brewed at the home of Ale Syndicate who lost their lease in early December. The future of Ale Syndicate is still up in the air, but they have said they plan to return 2017.

Arcade launched nearly 3 years ago with flagships including Grapefruit IPA and Mega Milk. Their video game theme and collaborations were always invented. Their presents in the Chicago beer scene will be missed.

Concrete Traffic

Arcade Brewing is launching a new series beers that have them collaborating with fine artists and institutions called Vanguard. The first release in this series is Concrete Traffic. This is a 7% ABV Roggenbier brewed with orange, lime, and salt.

This is a collaboration with UChicago Arts and coincides with their Concrete Happenings Exhibit that opened last month. The beer takes its name and inspiration from Wolf Vostell’s classic installation piece “Concrete Traffic”. In 1970, in Chicago, Vostell encased a Cadillac in concrete. The product of that “happening,” Concrete Traffic, was installed in the University of Chicago Campus North Parking Garage on October 1, 2016. #ArcadeBrewing #ConcreteTraffic
